Ack! The Agony of the Wait...

I sit here, in front of my computer, on pins and needles. As my friends and family know, I am not a fan of surprises or of waiting. I’m the spoilsport who wants to know what I’m getting for Christmas even if I know I can’t have it until the big day. (My husband delights in torturing me by blocking off closets with notes that say “Sandy’s present is in here. Do Not Open till Christmas” – This would be a month or more before the actual holiday.)

Anyway, what I’m getting at here is I gathered all my courage a little over a week ago and sent an email query to Avon Romance. For days afterward, I would have a little anxiety attack whenever my email client would announce a new message with that happy little ding-da-da-ding-de-ding.

Then, this past Friday, exactly one week from sending my query, I received a reply. I have to tell you, I was afraid to open it. When I finally got the courage to click the open button (It was only a couple of seconds—that whole not digging surprises thing), I had to read it twice.

The email was short and to the point, asking me to send the first three chapters and synopsis.

Yay! I am still in the running!!! They thought my query was interesting enough to want to read a bit more!

All right. After my psychotic little happy dance, where I made a complete and utter fool of myself, I hunkered down to prepare my partial. Thanks to my very wonderful CPs, I put the finishing touches and polished by submission.

Yesterday, I mailed it as instructed. The response time is 2 – 4 months on partials. So, now I wait.

Will they like it?

Will they get my humor?

Will they feel the sexual tension?

I have to wait and see. I just…have to wait.

Sandy…waiting :-)
